I take self portraits at other peoples houses / apartments / flats
I should really carry around my instant camera for these moments but sometimes you have to improvise.
I like the idea of capturing youself in a moment. In someone elses space.
I suppose this could become a mini collection but instead you can just have this one.
I finally bought an instax
After purchasing a polaroid z2300 and being in two minds about it, then deciding I just loved the asthetic (like most things) and not the practicality or the images it printed off.
The instax is such an ugly camera (personal opinion) but the mini images are wonderous. We can thank James for making me want an instax and for offering to switch cameras with me for his.
I’ve been taking lots of more documentary day by day images with it and enjoying it so far. Its tough to gauge how the image will line up and look when it prints.
I was going to use text along with my images but it all felt too cliche or in reality far too ‘bunny boiler’
Instead I may take phrases or lines out of texts and each image shall be titled using the bullshit I let myself believe.
A new piece.
As we all can guess my art, the art I enjoy doing is always fueled by passive aggressive notions of anger.
This particular piece does not differ.
I have until Friday to have it all finished and handed in and still have two more to complete and then to decided to embroider or light up behind the images.
I am using images I took without the subject knowing. I do this a lot so if you know me or we have spent even a little time together I will have taken a photograph. As much as I enjoy posed images it’s the ones I take when you aren’t paying attention I have a soft spot for the most.
so I am starting work on a new project. Initially it was going to be photo booth based and it may still be.
But I was also looking to explore selfies specifically nude selfies people take for themselves and for others.
I;m looking to use both these ideas so as ever expect a high nudity content in the images for my final piece which hopefully will be on show at The MAC.
In the meantime enjoy the nudity
Finally feeling inspired to work on a new project!
Hopefully it’ll be all done and ready to submit to The MAC in June this year
For my return to performing I’ve been creating a new costume with pieces remenicent of the original 50s triangle bras.
Here is a mix of power mesh (nude) circular dark gold 10mm crystals and oval light gold 7mm crystals. Set out in a starburst shape.
My work hung at The Open Project final exhbition
On till September 8th at The MAC Birmingham
